An American Hero
Hardly anybody recognizes Rita Katz as an American hero, possibly because she keeps such a low profile, or maybe because she's not an American, but an Israeli citizen. The point is: She never fails to come to our aid when we need her. And she makes good money doing it.
Monitoring Terrorist Websites
If we all knew what she's been doing for us, there's no telling how high she could rise in the public's estimation. Rita Katz runs a consulting firm called "SITE", which stands for "Search for International Terrorist Entities". [1]
SITE serves our nation by tirelessly monitoring radical Islamic terrorist websites and alerting national security specialists whenever something inflammatory appears. What a blessing! Clearly it would be foolish to remain unaware of the threats caused by internet-enabled jihadis, and we would surely be grateful for her services if we knew a bit more about them.
Rita Dodges a Bullet
Rita Katz dodged a bullet in 2007 after somebody in the Bush administration put her in an uncomfortable position by immediately releasing a video she had provided, even though she had explicitly instructed the White House to keep it secret for a while.
Of course the slip was understandable, since so many White House officials were so eager to be seen as trying to keep us safe.
Releasing the video immediately must have seemed like a great idea to several of them, including Fred Fielding, Rita's White House contact.
But unfortunately for Rita Katz, the video that was leaked had not yet been released by al-Qaeda, nor had it been posted on the radical Islamic website where she had found it.
Dead Man Speaking
None of this would have made any difference, except for the content of the video, which was amazing to say the least. It featured Osama bin Laden, who had been dead for almost five years at that point.
Because of the dead man's status as Public Enemy #1, stories about him had been appearing regularly on all the major networks (plus Fox and CNN). Surely they would pick up on this story, too.
In very short order, a transcript of the speech started appearing on the websites of occasionally reputable news agencies, and yet the original had still not been uploaded!
A Dangerous Rumor
The potential ramifications of this simple mistake became apparent when some idiot bloggers started the crazy rumor that the video wasn't what it appeared to be. They claimed that Rita Katz had obtained it before it was released because she was a front for whoever was making the videos she'd been finding.
Of course this claim implied that the videos didn't represent any threat at all but were created simply in order to inflame hatred against Muslims and fuel the War on Terror.
And even though it was unfounded, this dangerous rumor posed a serious threat to national security because even the most unscrupulous apologists could not compose any sequence of words that might be said to explain how Rita Katz could have downloaded and distributed the video before it had been uploaded to the site from which she had downloaded it.
A Close Call
Luckily for all of us, this dangerous and malicious rumor never got much traction. And Rita Katz slipped into the background to serve us anonymously once again. But that was a close call, and a lucky one!
Not that there was anything at stake, but one anxious White House staffer could have destroyed a generational effort with a single wrong move. Think of what that could have done to our national economy!
A Remarkable Turnaround
Since that time, Rita Katz and the SITE group have grown and flourished. According to the always-reliable Wikipedia, SITE now "intercepts and distributes messages, videos, and advance warnings of suicide bombings from terrorist groups' communications networks". [2] Who could ever ask for more?
It's been a remarkable turnaround for SITE, since in 2007 Rita Katz had claimed that "Al-Qaeda supporters, now alerted to the intrusion into their secret network, put up new obstacles that prevented SITE from gaining the kind of access it had obtained in the past".

Major Media Subscribers
But today, according to SITE's incredibly modest-looking website, "Most major media outlets worldwide are SITE subscribers." [3] Major media outlets listed as subscribers include ABC News, Associated Press, Bloomberg, CBC, CNN, Foreign Policy, Newsweek, NY Daily News, NY Times, Reuters, VICE Media, Voice of America, Wall Street Journal, and of course the Washington Post. So things are looking up for Rita Katz, and for the rest of us too.

Advance Notice
It's no wonder she's attracted so many subscribers. SITE claims it can provide advance notice of suicide bombings. Who wouldn't want to know when the suicide bombers were about to arrive?
A cold clown might find it literally incredible that SITE can still find this sort of inside information even though all the links that allowed it to infiltrate al-Qaeda's communications were severed a long time ago.

A Valiant Claim
But fortune favors the brave. And we haven't seen too many heroes braver than Rita Katz, who made the valiant claim that she had provided the video to the administration before it had been released by al-Qaeda simply because she wanted the White House to be able to respond properly when the video was eventually released. This apparently is what led to all the trouble.
Risk-Free Profit
There's no telling how many billions of dollars of risk-free profit could have been lost by honest loyal defense contractors if decent clueless Americans had been less willing to believe lovely Rita Katz and her outrageous fiction.
It would have been a horrible setback, one which might have made it necessary for the government to spend some of the national budget on schools, hospitals, roads, bridges, health care, education, and all the other benefits that most modern democratic governments at least pretend to provide in exchange for the exorbitant taxes they extort from their citizens.
No Conceivable Interest
To the most paranoid of lunatic observers, it seemed obvious that Rita Katz had caused her own problem. If she had simply uploaded the video to the website where she subsequently found it, before giving it to the White House rather than after (as she usually did), nobody would have noticed that this bizarre Israeli woman and her bizarre so-called "consulting firm" were tightly connected to (and probably sponsored by) Israeli intelligence.
Not The Biggest Problem
Despite all the issues with its provenance, the biggest problem with the video was its content. [4] The "talking head" in the video didn't look very much like Osama bin Laden. He wore a short black beard which was cut straight across below his chin. Six years earlier, Osama bin Laden's beard had been long, graying, and scraggly. And fundamentalist Muslims don't often dye or trim their beards.
Even more tellingly, the "head" appeared to be "talking" for only three minutes of the 22-minute video. For the other 19 minutes, the head was as still as a photograph. The lips weren't moving, but the words kept flowing.
Some clowns found it interesting that the "speaker" mentioned current events only while his lips weren't moving. Nothing he "said" while he appeared to be "speaking" referred to any event which was less than four years old, and this odd circumstance suggested to some suspicious clowns that only three minutes of the speech were genuine.
To other, more rigourous, clowns, the fact that the video contained 19 minutes of obvious fakery threw the other 3 minutes into question, and they dared to claim that the whole video was fake. [5]
Yet all the "experts" in the Bush administration, and all the "experts" in the media, insisted that the video was genuine. And, of course, so did lovely Rita Katz.
Taunting The Government
The fake bin Laden in the fake video threw some taunts at the Bush administration for not having tracked him down and killed him yet. And the Bush administration hurried to turn these comments into political capital. Rather than facing the taunting as a sign of their "failure" to "track down and kill" the dead man, they made it a reason to expand their war on the world.
Taunting The Opposition
After roasting the government, the fake speaker in the fake video threw some taunts at the fake "opposition". The fake speaker chided the Democrats for not having pressed for a withdrawal from Iraq. And of course these remarks virtually guaranteed that no Democrat would ever press for such a thing.
A Desperate Ploy
To one clown in particular, it seemed a desperate ploy. A jolt of fear had been injected into the public in August, when Rashid Rauf and the Liquid Bombers were arrested and Heathrow was shut down for a few days and air travel suddenly became much more difficult for everyone except the military.
The fear was planned to provide a political boost for the Bush administration which would last until the mid-term elections in November, at least according to a government spokesman who just happened to reveal the plan to a New York Times reporter. [6]
Unfortunately for Lovely Rita and her friends, the jolt was insufficient. Public opinion was mostly annoyed by the inconvenience, and not especially moved to support Bush or his War on Terror. So a special fake bin Laden video was required. And for maximum political effect, it was needed on or before September 11. Therefore, Lovely Rita and her friends were under intense pressure. It's no wonder she got caught speeding. Or at least I know one frozen clown who thinks so.

Ties That Bind
None of the following information is relevant but you should know it anyway.
Rita Katz was born in Iraq where her father was serving his country (Israel) as a clandestine agent until he was caught and exectuted. But this had no effect on Rita.
She immediately cut all ties with Israeli intelligence and dedicated her life to ending the tension between Arabs and Jews by "finding" information on the internet about the "terrorists who want us all dead", and selling it to governments and "reputable news agencies" all over the world.
Gordon Duff, who hates us all, may have expressed the clown perspective perfectly when he wrote:
Imagine if a paper carried a story like this:Seriously, Gordon??Reports that Al Qaeda was responsible for bombing the mosque and train station were given to us by an Israeli woman who says she found it on the internet. [7]
If this had happened, it would have implied that Rita Katz had no conceivable interest in the War on Muslims. So there would have been nothing to worry about, even though things might have looked a bit threatening for a few days.

The Uncertain Future
In retrospect, it's clear that neither Rita Katz nor any other Israeli intelligence agent would have been even slightly concerned about any potentially independent investigations which might come along in the uncertain future, even though such investigations would surely have unearthed more evidence of Israeli foreknowledge, complicity, spying, and fabrication of so-called evidence than we can mention in a very brief demented report such as this.

Four Good Reasons
The Israelis wouldn't have been concerned, nor should they have been, for four good reasons:
(1) Racism is the lowest and most hateful form of ignorance; anti-Semitism is the epitome of racism; and criticism of Israel is anti-Semitic. So critics of Israeli policies and actions are easy silenced, partially because their hate speech is so annoying, but also because
(2) The Israelis and their friends control all the big media and can destroy or drown out all the others. In addition,
(3) The crazed notion that an American ally would deliberately feed false information to an American intelligence service is unthinkable, having never been done before except in every war we've ever fought and in peacetime too. And finally:
(4) Why would there be another investigation?
Complete and Thorough
The first investigation was complete and thorough, even if it didn't say a word about the collapse of Building 7, which is how we know it told the whole truth. And this is another reason why we should be grateful that Philip Zelikow started the investigation by drawing up an outline of the final report. His clever opening move enabled the report to be complete and thorough, long before it was thoroughly completed. It also meant the investigation didn't have to be as thorough as the report, which was an added bonus.
Hard to Imagine
Even though I claim to understand all this, it's still hard for me to imagine why anyone could possibly want to see another investigation. The fortunate fact is that nearly all Americans, certainly all educated Americans, don't know or care whether the official story is true or false, which is exactly as it should be. Fiction is better than fact. Fantasy is more reliable than evidence. And faith is more important than knowledge.
We don't need to know or understand anything at all anymore because we're faith-based now. We're fiddling with our Buddha dolls and rubbing our Rosary beads, knocking on salt and throwing wood over our shoulders all day every day, hoping our luck will hold out for another 20 years, or at least a couple of weeks maybe. Hoping for the best.
Always hoping and sometimes wishing but never actually doing anything about it. It's the American way. [8]
